The Story of

Murray Cod

Murray Cod, also known as Goodoo, is a native Australian fish which dates back to the stories of the Dreamtime.

Early last century, Murray Cod almost faced extinction and can no longer be commercially fished from the rivers, however modern Aquaculture has enabled growers like us to ethically and sustainably produce this premium fish for table food.

Our dams containing water from the Murrumbidgee, the natural environment for Murray Cod, have no issues with mercury, microplastics, bacteria or other issues that could be found in other types of seafood.

The product

Murray Cod has beautiful, succulent texture.

The flesh is white, and juicy with a creamy, mild flavour. It suits classic steamed whole fish preparations, but is also just as good when roasted whole over fire, in a pizza oven, filleted and cooked with a crisp skin, or crumb! Don’t be afraid to overcook it, the skin and fat content help it retain its moisture.

Farmed by our small family business in the Riverina in New South Wales, this fish holds its structure very well and has a subtle taste, allowing it to take on whatever flavours you add in the cooking process.

Our Story

Goodoo Farms is a small family business, located in Southern NSW. It was established in 2018 by a husband and wife team, who have a love of the land, and wanted to farm in an emerging & growing primary industry.

We have transferred knowledge from our upbringing in mainstream agriculture along with our corporate career experience to professionally grow and supply a premium Australian product.

Why the name Goodoo Farms? It’s really simple. Something a little different, and we wanted to attribute our trading name back to the true Australian heritage of our product! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
